Hey guys! Long time no speak! How you doing? First of all, happy 4th of July America!! Are you doing anything fun for the 4th? Last night I went to see fireworks and ran into ten million people that I know so that was fun. We also had an impromptu barbecue. Confetti poppers are the best things in the world!! Today, on the actual 4th of July, I don’t think we have anything planned. We were going to just spend the day by the pool, but the weather doesn’t seem to want to cooperate. I think we’re going to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (part 1 and 2) and just chill.
Now let’s talk about my June wrap-up. I meant to get this up earlier, on the last day of the month like I usually do, but I never got around to writing it. This month I feel like I was planning on reading a lot more than I did, so I feel like I didn’t read enough. I got a job at a camp as an assistant counselor for a bunk of twelve 4 yr. old boys, so when I finally get home, I’m too exhausted to do much of anything else. The truth is, I did get an okay amount of reading done, so let’s sees what I read in the month of June!
1.Doon by Carey Corp
Doon is about a girl who thinks she’s going crazy when she starts to see a mysterious blond boy popping up everywhere, and than disappearing. When she travels to Scotland with her best friend, she gets tangled in a tale of secret kingdoms and witches. Doon is loosely based on the premise of the musical Brigadoon, and has many references to the play. I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads. I really did enjoy this book, but it was a little iffy at times. It had a lot of “seriously?” moments, but overall, it was a pretty good book.
2.Let The Sky Fall by Shannon Messenger
This is another book about a character who sees people nobody else can see, but in this story, a boy, Vane Weston, survives a category 5 tornado, that killed his parents, with his memory totally wiped. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars, and you can check out my review here.
3.To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
If you don’t know what this book is about, it’s basically follows a girl in a quiet southern town as she is faced with question of racism and morality, and how she grows up through the years. I gave this book a 3 out of 5 stars because while it was interesting, it bored me a little.
In the month of June I also started reading The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson, and it has been amazing! I’m really enjoying this book. I’m currently on page 407 and I think I’m going to get some more reading done after I put this up. Anyway, happy 4th of July and I hope to talk to you soon!
